Looking for an alternative investment in these straitened times? You could
do worse than follow Oprah Winfrey's example and buy some sketches by Nelson Mandela,
the former South African dissident and president.
"The Window", a sketch of his cell on Robben Island, has quadrupled
in value a year after it was bought.
London's Belgravia Gallery, Mandela's exclusive dealer in the UK, sold the
work for £1,575 in aid of Mandela's Charity and it is now changing hands
for £6,000
Anna Hunter's Gallery also has exclusive rights to Prince Charles's work,
but investors must be more patient. Pressed, Hunter reveals: "It has quadrupled
since the mid-1990s."
