Works of Art • Mel Lloyd

Mel Lloyd works not only on canvas but also in ceramics and sculpture. Her paintings are extrovert, passionate and lively.  A delicate balance between the spiritual and the humorous, they are built up through layers of paint, often dripped onto the canvas or applied with a stick or palette knife.  Jackson Pollock and Howard Hodgkin have inspired her while the witty honesty reminds us of Tracey Emin.  Mel travels a great deal, particularly in Africa, working in orphanages and townships, and the directness of some of her images is drawn from African culture.

Mel has shown her works in many group exhibitions as well as one-man shows.  Many of her works hang in private collections
