Rembrandt married Saskia van Uylenburgh in 1634. She was the niece of Hendrich van Uylenburgh, Rembrandt's landlord and an art dealer in Amsterdam. Rembrandt was to use Saskia as his model in a number of etchings, drawings and paintings. They were
happily married until her death in 1642, 8 years later.
