My formative years were spent on the moors of Lancashire and Yorkshire. I grew up believing that these vast expanses were my back garden and I felt very much as if I were a part of them, and as if they were an intrinsic part of me. Stones II is
about my relationship with the wide open moorlands of the Pennines, the Dales and the Peaks; about the feelings of quiet, of peace and of insignificance I feel when immersed in their hugeness; and about how I like to carry a piece of them with
me
as
a token of the connection that I have with these places. In my pocket I carry a stone.
